My toes
Inside fleece-lined boots
Feel like tiny ice-blocks
My fingers
Exposed to refrigerated air
Are numb
I can’t remember
When it’s been so cold
My bones ache
They don’t approve of this
Chills like miniature teeth
Nibble at my joints
Gnaw on muscles
Graze across my skin
Winter’s freezing bite
Has me by the throat
Shakes me like a predator with prey
How I long to be warm
But winter’s chill
Takes chunks from my soul
