The higher you soar, the harder you fall
And this height was lofty indeed
Icarus, you flew too near the sun
Now wingless, you are earthbound
Face in the dirt, as low as you can go
Maybe you should stay there
Burrow in, disappear
Prostrate yourself, eat dust and die
Ground receive you, earth devour you
None to mourn you, food for worms
It’s time to rise
foolish to grovel so long on the ground
Dust yourself off, look around
And up, up, at the stars you touched
Wheel turns, world turns,
cycle begins again, the old made new
For you have been in this dust before
You have touched those stars and will do so once more
And slowly, slowly you begin again
To shape the wings with which to fly.
